My weight at the beginning of this venture was a whopping 160.2 pounds (and I am only 5'2, ACK!). I'm only 3 days into my journey, but decided to weigh in just to see if I've made any progress. According to my scale I am down 3 pounds. That was a pleasant surprise, YAY ME!
I did it by walking, drinking lots of water and trying to watch my portions. I'm proud of my progress, but it was a very hard 3 days. Last night I wanted cake. REALLY badly. Normally sweets aren't my thing, but last night I had such a strong craving. Luckily we didn't have anything in the house and my husband was home so I didn't want to sneak out on a food run (I actually do that sometimes, it's really terrible). Anyway, I did buy myself Cracker Jacks today though. They are sweet enough to satisfy my sugar craving without adding so many calories. I think I remember a bag being only about 2 points on Weight Watchers (WW). As long as it doesn't make me crave more I'm good!
So lets see, I think I should set some goals. Ultimately I would like to get back down to the 110-115 range. That's a long way off though! So my first goal would be to lose 10% of my current weight (stole that from WW as well!) which would be 16 pounds. Once I reach that, I will make a new "mini goal".

That is a very good start!
I know you said you will be working on mini-goals, and that's definitely the way to go.
Are you sure you want to go back to the 110-115 range? I remember seeing a picture of you from high school (Junior or Senior Prom) and you said you weighed 113. You looked a little TOO skinny and kind of pinched :(. Maybe the 120-125 range would be better?
Love you!
I am battling weight too. I would encourage you to do your best now while you don't have a lot to lose. I know you think it is a lot. I have a whole lot more than that to lose and I wish I would have worked harder on it when I was younger and had a lot less to lose.
Another thing I remember you wrote was that when you do give in to a craving, you tend to crave more and more. I am like that too. One of the things I have done is made a list on paper and mentally of all the things I recognize trigger further cravings--either to the same food or some other food. Then I know ahead of time and can weigh my decision of whether I really want that craved food or not.
Hey, 16 pounds? That's totally do-able within 8-16 weeks. Losing 1-2 lbs/week is the healthy way to do it. You could totally do this if you really want to!!
Great job! Little at a time and eventually you'll be at your goal. I have to agree with Capirani that it's better to do it now when you have less to take off.
I let myself go and now have 100 pounds to take off. I am a size 16 and a huge 235 pounds! 9 years ago I was 135 pounds and a size 5 (I'm 5'5").
You can do it!
